Lee explains how hotels view four areas of the guest experience: housekeeping, market segmentation, loyalty programs, and price. Some of these shape the guest experience without the guest even knowing it. Hotels are complicated. They operate under a different kind of law. They rent rooms daily, not month-to-month. They overbook, and they use complex, computer-aided demand and pricing models. But, if we look at these four areas, there are some similarities. What can we learn from hotels that will make our small businesses operate better?

THE SPEAKER

Lee Creech joined the self storage industry in 2012 as Assistant Manager at Northshore Pellissippi Storage in Knoxville, TN, bringing a commitment to the highest levels of customer service and modern revenue management techniques. He became General Manager in 2014 and has twice overseen expansion efforts. He was recognized as TNSSA Manager of the Year in 2018. He has been an active board member with TNSSA for a number of years, serving various roles including, President, Vice President, Secretary and most currently, the role Treasurer. 

Drawing upon previous experience in the nonprofit world and as a hotel revenue manager, Lee has implemented a data-driven approach to challenging industry assumptions. He is committed to creating value through providing "the right space, at the right time, for the right price."  Additionally, Lee brings a strong customer-service focus to self storage. He has trained front-line employees and has served as the Customer Service Culture trainer in a hospitality setting. With his unique experience in administration, education, customer service, and revenue management, Lee aims to generate not only revenue, but also value for customers, employees, and investors. 

Lee makes his home with his wife in Knoxville, TN. He is originally from North Carolina and obtained his BA at UNC-Chapel Hill. Therefore, he is an avid fan of college basketball. Despite his protests that it is a "Great Day To Be A Tar Heel!", he has been spotted frequently at University of Tennessee basketball games.
